Lossy DNG: How second shooters should be sending files across the internet

These are the settings I use to convert my raw files to Lossy DNG, inside LR’s Develop Module. They are about 60-80% smaller than the raws and there is no perceptible quality loss.

If you are a second shooter or looking to get files from a second shooter, have them do this, inside Lightroom, then send you the resulting files.

I also convert all my own raws like this to massively save on storage costs.

If you shoot Canon, shoot cRAW and you can skip this. Nikon I believe has their own version of this now called “High Efficiency RAW”.
