Michelle & Henry’s Fall Farm Wedding
Michelle and Henry built their wedding around the people who came. What they wanted was somewhere genuinely beautiful and enough time in the day to actually be with everyone, and they did not fuss much over anything beyond that. Blooming Hill Farm at the end of October handles the beautiful part without trying, with the color at peak all weekend. There was no wedding party, just close friends, and the day kept that easy shape from the start.
The ceremony was in the back field with the foliage behind them, and it brought both of their families’ traditions into one place. They married under a chuppah and closed with the breaking of the glass. Michelle had traditional Korean drumming to celebrate her culture, and getting to witness that alongside everyone else was a highlight of the wedding for me. It is the kind of thing that only works when a room is genuinely paying attention, and this room was.
We stayed out in the back field after the ceremony for portraits as the sun went down, which at this time of year happens early and generously. Cocktail hour moved into the greenhouse, and dinner and dancing were in the tent. Michelle and Henry made a day with enough room in it to be present for each other and for everybody who came. That is the whole point, and it is harder to pull off than it sounds.
