Molly & Christian’s Meadow Ridge on Hudson Wedding

Molly and Christian got married at Meadow Ridge on Hudson on the last Saturday in September, with a nor’easter working up the coast all week. Somehow, the weather kept letting up long enough for us to pop outside for photos here and there. Both of them were happy to grab an umbrella and go, and it barely rained on them while they were out there.

The first look happened outside with a great view behind them, and during cocktail hour we were whisked away to the back field for the meadow with a view of the Catskills. The rest of the day ran through the barn and the patio.

Angela from Christofora Events kept the whole day running the way it was planned, and the food from Lola’s was genuinely good. The Cool Rulers played all night and never let the dance floor empty out. The last dance was “Love Story”, and their friends circled up around Molly and Christian and sang it with them. What an adorable way to end the night.

What comes through in the photos is how glad Molly and Christian were to have everybody there with them. You could feel it in the room all evening. The weather is the one part of a wedding that nobody gets to control. Couples who decide ahead of time not to mind it are the ones whose photos are better for it.

How We Met

We met on Hinge in January 2021, while we were both living at home with our parents during the pandemic. Our first date was at the Long Island aquarium, wearing masks, followed by a very cold outdoor lunch in January. Christian was shivering so much that he actually choked on his burger and Molly almost had to do CPR… the rest was history.

Our Engagement Story

We spend a lot of time in the Hudson Valley, and Christian knew that it would be the only suitable place for us to get engaged. He planned a very special day in Cold Spring, where he brought Molly to Stone Crop Gardens and proposed under the Wisteria pavilion. Molly had an idea something was up when he insisted they walk around outside even though it was a gloomy, rainy day, and Christian wouldn’t let a drop of rain fall on her. It was the first of many memorable rainy days in our story!

Marriage to us means…

Fighting about who has to eat the last bite of food.

How’d you choose Meadow Ridge on Hudson?

We only toured venues in Upstate New York, and Meadow Ridge felt immediately like us. We loved the view of the Hudson, the beautiful foliage, and we could so clearly picture our band on the mezzanine in the barn. Everything about it made it feel perfect!

A memorable moment from our wedding was…

Before our guests arrived, our band was practicing their set list and we had a private dance party in the barn. It was just us, in the reception room that we had been dreaming up for months, rocking out to our epic band- just us two. It was a really special moment before the ceremony and craziness began.

If I could give other couples to be one piece of advice…

Pick a day leading up the wedding (for us, it was the Wednesday before) and once that day comes, just let everything go. The weather, guests cancelling, any last minute stresses, you name it- none of it should matter. Just focus on the fact that you’re getting married from that point on, and enjoy every moment! It will be over in a blink.

Thank you to the team who helped made the day!
